At first, the laser measuring instrument was only used in the wire and cable industry to measure and control the wire diameter. After years of practice and research by technicians, the laser measuring instrument is also widely used in medical devices, nuclear materials, PVC pipes, rubber pipes, optical fibers, rubber rollers, blades, machinery manufacturing and other industries. In addition, it can achieve automatic measurement and control for opaque, translucent, transparent wires and pipes.

The working principle of the laser measuring instrument is simply the principle of laser non-contact scanning. The rotating four side mirrors are used to scan the laser spots on the mirrors into laser bands. The scanning belt forms a projection when scanning the measured object, and the width of the projection is displayed by the calculation of the single-chip microcomputer through the photoelectric receiver. With high measurement accuracy and strong stability, it is a non-contact measurement method that domestic manufacturers like to receive.

The laser measuring instrument has a wide range of applications. It can measure the outer diameter of wires and cables, pipes, plastic pipes, metal pipes, etc. on-line and can be used in the production line to measure the outer diameter and adjust the screw speed or tractor speed of the extruder to achieve the purpose of controlling the outer diameter. At the same time, according to the special requirements of users, auxiliary tooling can be equipped to measure out of roundness and runout.

Several key points for selecting a suitable laser caliper:

1. The user needs to tell the laser caliper manufacturer to measure the outer diameter or runout of what products? Wires and cables? Enameled wire? Rubber hose? Medical tubes, rubber rollers or other products?

2. What are the maximum and minimum outer diameters of the tested products? The manufacturer will recommend a type with appropriate measuring range according to these two outer diameter values.

3. What is the required accuracy of the outer diameter of the measured object? The measurement accuracy of the laser caliper is generally in the micron (UM) level. Different manufacturers and different models of the caliper are different. It is necessary to select a suitable one according to the measurement range and accuracy.
