The laser measuring instrument for monitoring the diameter of wire rod, bar and pipe on the industrial automatic production line should obviously meet the following requirements: (1) the measuring range of outer diameter should be large, including more than 90% of the national rod and wire varieties, so as to be universal. (2) The accuracy shall be high enough to ensure that the instrument has no nonlinear principle error, high stability and strong anti-interference ability of electromagnetic, dust, water vapor and oxide scale. (3) The measurement speed should be fast so that the workpiece is almost stationary and equivalent to static measurement. (4) In the measurement area, the accuracy is not reduced by the change of the axial position of the rod and wire and is not affected by the transverse vibration of the rod and wire, that is, it is not affected by the jitter of the rolled material. 3. Measuring principle photoelectric measuring products adopt the object side telecentric optical path and CCD imaging method for on-line size detection. The core component of the detection is the photoelectric probe. Each group of probes is composed of a transmitting lens and a receiving lens. The light emitted from the point light source in the transmitting lens enters the receiving lens through the transmitting lens to form a parallel light field of view. The parallel light is then focused by the receiving lens and imaged on the receiving unit after passing through the aperture at the focal position. When the measured object passes through the field of view, the part covered by the measured object will show a clear shadow on the CCD chip of the receiving unit. Through photoelectric conversion and digital processing, the diameter D of the measured object can be calculated through the width l of the shadow.
